What we believe Minimize

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

We believe that God has made us and all creatures; that He has given us our bodies, souls and minds, and that He continues to care for them. He also richly and daily provides us with all that we need to support this body and life, guarding and protecting us from all evil. He does all this out of His divine, fatherly goodness and mercy, and not because of any merit or worthiness in us. In return, it is our duty to thank and praise, serve and obey him.

We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary. He has redeemed us, the lost and condemned, purchased and won us from the power of sin, death and the devil. He did so not with gold or silver, but at the cost of His own holy, precious blood and by His innocent suffering and death. Just as He rose from the dead and lives and reigns for all eternity, we are now free to be His own, living with Him in His kingdom forever in righteousness, innocence and blessedness.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

We believe that we cannot by our own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord or come to Him. But the Holy Spirit calls us through the Gospel, enlightens us with His gifts, and sanctifies and keeps us faithful. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, keeping it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith and daily forgiving the sins of all believers. On the Last Day, He will raise all the dead and give eternal life to all who believe in Christ.

Note: Sanctify is the act of making holy or setting apart.  We are made holy or new in and through the work of Christ Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit.  (dictionary.com)
