Infant/toddler care is provided for children 6 weeks to 3 years of age. OSL understands that during these formative years, young children are learning and growing in ways that can impact them for the rest of their lives. Creating a loving, safe and nurturing environment is absolutely critical. OSL uses a faith-based curriculum called WEE Learn, published by LifeWay Christian Resources. This is a comprehensive curriculum plan that uses books, music, nature and toys to illustrate Christian fundamentals. Plus, there is plenty of age-specific stimulating learning activities for ages 9-16 months, 17-24 months and even birth-8 months.
OSL staff re-enforce age-appropriate life skills based on parental guidance, such as —
- Learning to share
- Potty training
- Eating with utensils and drinking from a cup
Staff read to children every day. Children are encouraged to participate in indoor and outdoor activities that develop their large motor skills. And there is always plenty of time for free play as well as age-appropriate arts and craft activities.

OSL offers after school care for not only OSL students, but also provides bus transportation from several Pflugerville schools for those public school students who need after school care at no additional cost to the parents. This is a perfect way to place public school students into an after school program.
After a hard day in school, children look forward to healthy snacks and plenty of time on the playgrounds or with activities that can help building great relationships outside the classroom. But the after school care curriculum also includes time for:
- Tutoring and homework
- Small and large group games
- Arts and crafts
- Science and gardening activities
- Music and reading
As with all OSL programs, after school care is centered on Christ and children are encouraged to treat each other with love and respect.

Each summer OSL offers weekly care for children in Pre-K3 through Grade 5. Each week's curriculum and activities are theme-based which may include sports, science, math and the beautiful world God has provided. Depending on the theme for the week, children go on field trips, participate in hands-on, age-appropriate educational projects and activities by exploring the mechanics, math and/or science of each process.
In addition to the themed activities, children swim or participate in on-site water activities, have plenty of free play time and are encouraged to spend time reading or engaging in other quiet-time activities.

CHILDCARE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS (click tabs below)

OSL infant teachers help babies build a sense of trust and security by providing an atmosphere where they respond quickly to each child’s needs, spend individual time with each child and provide a safe place for babies to explore, learn and grow. The staff works hard to accommodate the needs of each infant’s schedule. The curriculum is based from Creative Curriculum for Infants and provides activities for individual attention to develop skills necessary for accomplishing developmental milestones. Some of the activities the teachers provide are “tummy” time, playing with bubbles, story-time, rolling balls, singing, mirror time, clapping, outside buggy ride time and many more.

Toddler 1 teachers provide a loving environment that helps toddlers continue to develop. The WEE Learn Curriculum is used and is a faith-based curriculum, incorporating prayer and Bible stories, with plenty of age-specific learning activities using books, music, nature, toys, art and play. Our teachers get down on the Toddler’s level and play with them; inside and outside, helping them develop their large motor skills. They encourage language development by frequently talking to the children, reading books to them and letting the children explore the books. Children receive a morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack.

Toddler 2 teachers provide a safe, secure and loving environment that promotes learning. The WEE Learn Curriculum is used (faith- based) incorporating prayer and Bible stories with plenty of age-specific learning activities using books, music, nature, toys, art and play. It builds on the prior learning experiences received in the Toddler 1 class. In the early years the child’s development occurs at a rapid pace and our toddlers have opportunities to develop skills they need through the play-based curriculum as well as with interaction with the teachers. Children receive a morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack and the caregivers help the toddlers learn independent skills such as pouring their own milk and cleaning up their lunch plate.

Toddler 3 teachers provide a safe, loving environment where the curious 2- and 3-year-olds can explore and discover. The WEE Learn Curriculum for 2-year-olds is used (faith-based) incorporating prayer and Bible stories with plenty of age-specific learning activities using books, music, nature, toys, art and play. It also includes learning centers, group activities and suggestions for home activities. Toddler 3 teachers help toddlers begin developing cognitive and literacy skills. Colors, numbers and letters are introduced. Free play-time develops the social and emotional skills needed for a child this age. Children receive a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack where they continue using their independent skills as well as learning manners.

OSL teachers know 3- and 4-year-olds need familiar adults nearby for security as they explore and play. Our PreK 3-4 after school program provides fun, educational activities complementing the school curriculum as well as center time, Bible time, arts and crafts and outside play. Providing “free play” is important for this age as the children are learning to develop friendships.

Teachers for this age know that even though the children are becoming more independent, they still need the security of having an adult around for guidance. In our K – Grade 5 after school program we expand on the child’s development by providing arts and crafts, cooking projects, inside and outside free play, computer time, homework help, teacher-guided group times, Bible stories and character development throughout the week. Opportunities are also provided for the children to interact with their peers so that they develop problem-solving skills as well as respect for individual differences.
