“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
– Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (ESV)
Our Savior Lutheran’s Family Ministry encompasses areas of ministry designed for children, high school youth, college students and young adults, and single and married adults. But instead of keeping those areas separate and isolated, we are beginning to merge them into a holistic model that emphasizes “whole family” ministry.
In his letter to the Ephesians, the Apostle Paul spells out not only some of the individual responsibilities of each family member, but also emphasizes the communal, interdependent nature of the Christian family. Through our actions and attitudes towards our parents, children, brothers, sisters, wives and husbands, we reflect Jesus’ own love for us as members of His heavenly family.
That’s easier said than done when our workdays and weekends are crowded with activities that take away from the precious time a family can spend together. Too often we feel more like roommates than relatives, and our relationships suffer as a result.
Our goal is to offer you the support, encouragement and resources you need to achieve real spiritual and emotional growth as a Christian family. We want to help you make your faith a priority again in the home through shared worship, Bible study and devotions; family-friendly service and fellowship activities; and intergenerational retreats and bonding opportunities.
